Sergey Brin Google Interview

Sergey Brin showed up at the recent Web 2.0 Summit and recorder this 18 minute video interview with John Battelle,  available on YouTube and at www.steverenner.com

Sergey Brin Video Interview with John Battelle

Talks about Google / Twitter Deal – says he’s “Excited to see an entrepreneur go out and be successful, as with Biz Stone, 1st  on Blogger and now even more with Twitter.”

Google has an “Alumni Community” which makes it easy to form deals and partnerships.

Denys Google tried to buy Twitter.

Economy of attention. It’s not all in the search box. Starting out Google was working on CPM low end of the monitazition, and spent years developing adwords. It’s hard to predict where the future value / successes may lie.

The internet as an advertising medium is very efficient / compared to traditional media.Ad rates on the Internet are going to go up.

Google is entering Mobile, Advertising, Social, Book Search, and can they compete effectively.

Gooogler creates Products / Services out of need example: Gmail, Android. Is there potential Google Mobile hardware in the future? Possible, but Google does work closely with the manufacturers.“G1, we worked very closely with HTC on the design.” He added, “you can’t create software completely divorced from how the hardware is designed.”

On Bing, do you use Bing, “Yes I use all thge search engines out there”.

Bing reminds us that Search is a competetive market, there is a lot of cool stuf, that has carried over from MSM LIve.

It too bad that Yahoo wants to get out of search, “I do think Yahoo had a number of interesting innovations there and I wish they would continue to innovate in search.”

“The world is evolving, and people consume information in different ways.”

Uses Chrome for Mac. Pre Beta stage, but is usable now.

Digitizing the worlds books, he is surprised at all the controversy over this, “I’m optimistic that we will be successful and that we can provide access to 10′s of millions of books”.

Google Caffeine Hot Or Not

Google Caffeine looks to be a major upgrade in their search strategy. But, is it good for marketers? It may change the dynamics of PPC, we will have to wait and see.

google-caffineGoogle Search Guru Matt Cutts calls this the most significant update since the “Big Daddy Update” in 2005. Cutts said with Caffeine Google is re-writing how they index pages.

Think of Caffeine as a redeployment of the computing network that Google uses to connect searchers and results. “We want to make a system that is more robust, that can do more–and do more faster,” Cutts said. ( More Faster )

Google is constantly making changes “Under The Hood” to it’s search and most are not noticible to users. But with Caffeine the changes are significant and users will notice a difference. This is why Google is making a Big Deal about this.

They (Google) say that it has nothing to do with the whole Bing thing or Yahoo pulling out of the search game, but rather something that has been in development for quite some time.

Who knows… who cares?

Google Catches The Wave

We have been talking about Catch The Wave for some time. Now Google has joined in with their own Wave. So what is Google Wave? I first heard about this a few days ago. Since then my head has been spinning with ideas for this new application.

Google Wave is a product that helps users communicate and collaborate on the web.

A “wave” is equal parts conversation and document, where users can almost instantly communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

Google Wave is also a platform with a rich set of open APIs that allow developers to embed waves in other web services and to build extensions that work inside waves.

The video introduction is long and a little dry, especially if you are not a techie type person, but it shows you some of the amazing features of this system. What I really like is the fact that Google has made it all open source so anyone will be able to use Wave in their own applications, or create their own Wave System.

Is Wave The Future Of Email?

My head has been spinning with ideas for how we can incorporate Wave in our own Systems here at iNetGlobal. I have actually woke up from dreaming about it.

I am going to put our developers to work on this platform right away and see what we can do with it. Is Wave the future of email? It could be… one thing for sure is that it’s an extremely cool “Real Time” collaborative platform.

Are their Marketing applications for this, absolutely, exactly what they are remains to be seen. This is a new way at looking at online communications, and it will take time to figure it all out. Even the developers don’t know what all it can do. What’s cool is that you can be a part of the process of developing this new technology.

Internet Marketing Strategy

Today I’m listed #7 out of 23 Million. I can’t say that I am completely surprised but I didn’t expect to rocket up this quick. I thought it would be more gradual over time. This is cool, especially as I have been stuck on page 3 for this term for the last year, and to move up so dramatically, by just making one slight adjustment in the Title Tag is amazing.

Now, I see I have moved up for the even more targeted term “Internet Marketing” to page 5. That’s Cool!

Oh by the way are you on Twitter Yet?

The Power Of Blogging

OK you are not going to believe this. Not 30 minutes after I posted my follow up to Internet Marketing Strategy I jumped up to Google Page 2 in the Ranks.

internet-marketing-strategy_01

Internet Marketing Strategy – Now #12 of 18 Million (Awesome!)

Although I am not totally surprised, I can hardly believe this one myself. But it does show you 2 important things:

  1. The Power Of Blogging
  2. The Importance of Relevant Title Tags

Well this proves the point, and I feel pretty stupid for not seeing this before. Oh well every day is a new learning experience ;-) – Now look out for Google Page #1!

Internet Marketing Strategy

My “Internet Marketing Strategy“. As an Internet Marketer, I have been relatively successful. Over the years I have grossed Multi-Millions of dollars in Sales. Now I don’t say this to brag or to make myself feel good, but to illustrate a point, and here it is…

I have been publishing this blog for several years now, and attract around 1,000 unique visitors a day. Not bad. The title to my blog is “Steve Renner Internet Marketing Strategy – Services”. I chose this title for 2 reasons:

  1. It Brands Me “Steve Renner” as an Internet Marketer, and by providing
good content, I have established myself as an authority in this industry,
and a trusted source for Internet Marketing information.
  2. It’s what I do, provide Internet Marketing Strategy, and my company is an Internet Service Provider, providing real Internet Marketing Services
    • Web Hosting
    • Autoresponder Service
    • Blog Services
    • Linking Services
    • Shopping Cart Service
    • Affiliate Program Service
    • Online Training Service
    • Online Payment Service
    • Debit Card Service
    • Directory Service
    • Local Search Directory
    • Search Engine
    • Online Advertising

The point is that I have been stuck on Page 3 of Google for the keyword search term, Internet Marketing Strategy, for the longest time.

Then it hit me like a bolt of lightning today, I really want to rank for the term “Internet Marketing Strategy” and I don’t necessarily care about ranking for the Term “Steve Renner”.

So why is my Title “Steve Renner Internet Marketing Strategy – Services”?

It’s one of those “Ah-Ha” moments. So I immediately changed the title of my site to:
“Internet Marketing Strategy – Internet Marketing Services | Steve Renner”.

People are more interested in good information about Internet Marketing Strategy or Internet Marketing Service not about Steve Renner.

I have already seen a change in my Search Engine Listings, Now with some further SEO and Linking Strategies, I should see a jump in my rankings. Look out for Page 1 of Google for the keyword search terms:

How Google Ad Auction Works

Here is a cool video with Hal Varion Google Chief Economist that gives you a detailed inside look at how Google ranks your Adwords ads. This is killer stuff that can help if you run Pay Per Click (PPC) Campaigns.

Google Ad Auction

Essentially there are 3 parties involved in an Adwords campaign.

  • Advertisers – Wants to show relevant ads that users will click on.
  • Users – Wants to see relevant ads based on what they’re searching for.
  • Google – Wants to create a good experience for the Users and the Advertisers so they will come back and use the service in the future.

The goal is to accommodate the interests of these 3 parties.

Watch this video to get the Inside details on Google criterion for Ranking ads and giving them placement in their search results. This is Excellent Stuff!

Armand Morin Says You Suck

Hey everyone, day 3 here at Armand Morin Live in Dallas. It’s been a lot of fun. Yes I learned that I Suck! It wasn’t really surprising.

armand-morin-steve-renner

Steve Renner -with – Armand Morin

Armand is a brilliant guy, and has a way with words, and I like that he calls it like it is. You don’t have enough people opting into your list, your web site doesn’t convert, YOU SUCK!

Covered some great Google Advertising strategies yesterday and watched Armand create a product live. Today he will edit the product will be up for sale here by next week. I think he is calling it, “Google Ad Secrets“. Now that’s the way to do it, Dream It Up, Take Massive Action, and Make It Happen.

Using Google Adwords is probably the most powerful Traffic Getting Strategy there is, and there is a lot of people out there teaching it, but Armand doesn’t just teach this stuff, he is actually out doing it on a daily basis.

One of the biggest things I got from this weekend was how Armand interacts with people, and how they react to him. He has a down to earth, easy going style that people can really relate to.

We had a little networking party last night and I have met some very cool people here in Dallas from as far off as UK and Australia, who came in specially for this training event. That is very cool! I may have picked up some new iNetGlobal Consultants.

One recurring theme I picked up is that most people here already have a business, but are just getting started online, and looking for some direction.

I see the hunger that people have for Internet Marketing knowledge, is insatiable. And this is just the tip of the iceberg, there has to be 1,000 of other people out there who are hungry for this knowledge.

There has never been a better time to be involved in the Internet, it’s easier than ever to get out and build your own online business, even if YOU SUCK!

Google Buys Twitter

Google wants to get their hands on the mega popular Micro-Blogging site Twitter. Why not, since it has become one of the most popular sites on the net.

twitter-logo_01Techcrunch reported that it was a done deal, then back pedaled a bit. Everyone is talking about it…

So it’s really no surprise, since Google wants to own the internet anyway. As reported in the Crunch: “Google is in late stage negotiations to acquire Twitter. We don’t know the price but can assume its well, well north of the $250 million valuation that they saw in their recent funding. ” (Or NOT!)

google-logo_01So how does this compare to the Facebook offer: “Twitter turned down an offer to be bought by Facebook just a few months ago for half a billion dollars, although that was based partially on overvalued Facebook stock. Google would be paying in cash and/or publicly valued stock, which is equivalent to cash. So whatever the final acquisition value might be, it can’t be compared apples-to-apples with the Facebook deal.”

This would be founders, Evan Williams and Biz Stone’s second sale to Google – they sold Blogger to them just five years ago.

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone posted a statement on his blog Friday that neither confirmed the talks nor ruled them out.

“It should come as no surprise that Twitter engages in discussions with other companies regularly and on a variety of subjects,” Stone said. “Our goal is to build a profitable, independent company and we’re just getting started.” adding, “The 30-employee company is hiring”.

Not bad for a couple years work. Looks like another big pay day for The these 2 Twits! (Way to go boys!).

Meanwhile we’re going surfin’, who knows maybe the Big G will be looking our way someday.
