China Internet Search Market Report

Acesse continues to gain ground in the China Internet Search Market, dominated by Baidu. Since Google has pulled out of China, and moved their Servers to Hong Kong, another provider has been making a big name for themselves, Qihoo360.

Now with around 10% of the China Internet Search Market Qihoo360 was founded by former Yahoo China Executives CEO Zhou Hongyi, President Xiangdong Qi, and former Yahoo China Chief Engineer Shu Cao.

Baidu controls around 80% of the China Internet Search Market, Google has around 10% and Quihoo has about 10%. The company began with selling Security Software, and has the #2 Browser in China, and has over 4 Million Users.

The Internet Penetration in China is growing fast, and will soon be the dominant Internet Market in Asia. In 2011 at 37.7 percent, up 3.4 percent over the end of 2010, the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) reported that the number of Internet users in China have crossed the half billion mark, reaching 505 million users at the end of November last year.

Microblogging is becoming more popular, much to the dislike of the Chinese government. The number of microblog users exceeded 300 million the end of November, up from 195 million at the end of June, with Weibo being the dominant platform.
